Gates played through the toe injury in 2007, and had it surgically repaired the following offseason. The San Diego Union-Tribune makes it sound like Gates has a very good chance to play against the Patriots in Week 7. "It means a ton," said Philip Rivers. "...With what we do with Gates, that’s one that could have an effect on our approach to a game more than the others."
